This system is used by one of our customers who uses it to power two circuits in his home in the event of a blackout. It can be used equally well as an off grid system for an off grid home or cabin.
The system starts with the solar panels wired in two series strings on the pole mount to the combiner box mounted to the side of the pole. The combiner box is then wired to the Midnite Solar E-panel which houses all the necessary breakers and disconnects. The E-panel provides a mount for the Outback VFX3648 Inverter and the Outback Flexmax MPPT charge controller. The E-panel has all the necessary adaptors to contain wiring to and from the inverter making a very neat and easy installation.
The output of this system varies depending upon where you live and what time of the year it is. Expect more ouput in the summer (highest output period) and less in the winter (lowest output period).

This system can be used as both grid tie and/or off grid system.
This system is used to power a refrigerator for a week in the event of a blackout. It can be used equally well as an off grid system for an off grid home or cabin. The system is expandable up to 4000w of solar power.
The system starts with the 295w solar panels wired in one series string wired to the Outback FlexOne Power Panel which houses all the necessary breakers and disconnects. The power panel is prewired and easily hooks to the battery bank via included inverter/battery cables.
The new FLEXpower ONE System accommodates all the essential protective devices in a small space at a low installed cost for applications with modest power requirements such as cabins, chalets, homes, remote communication sites and backup power systems. Utilizing a compact design and an easy-to-install mounting bracket, the fully pre-wired and factory tested.
FLEXpower ONE includes a single inverter, AC and DC wiring boxes, a single FLEXmax 80 charge controller, MATE, HUB, FLEXnet DC and surge protector. The system is also equipped with battery and PV array breakers, a PV GFDI breaker, an input-output-bypass assembly, mounting locations for both AC GFCI Type B and EU Type F style outlets and additional AC breakers. FLEXpower ONE components carry all of the necessary ETL certifications allowing for a code compliant installation. Dimensions are 12.88 x 19.69 x 33.44 inches. Weight is 98 lbs.

The OutBack Flexpower is pre-wired with all of the essential protective devices in the smallest possible space at the lowest installed cost making it ideal for applications with modest power requirements such as cabins, weekend get-a-way homes, and remote communication sites as well as back-up power systems homes. Utilizing an extremely compact design and an easy-to-install mounting bracket, the fully pre-wired and tested Flexpower ONE System is engineered for a quick installation, saving both time and money. The pre-wired power center comes with an OutBack charge controller already mounted. OutBack charge controllers have maximum power point tracking with an efficient, safe, multi-stage recharging process that prolongs battery life and assures peak performance from the 1,530 Watt solar array. With a 24v battery bank the FM80 charge controller can take up to 2,400w of solar power, however because we need to keep the series strings of panels in sets of three panels ( due to the Max Voc input of 150V to the charge controller) a total of 9 x 255w solar panels can be used with the FM80 charge controller.

Off Grid or Grid Tied
FLEXpower™ ONE FP1-GVFX3524 & FP1-GVFX3648 inverters are designed to work off-grid and also interact with the grid to back feed power. If you have a generator you should be aware that the GVFX3524 inverters will only sync with Honda EU generators because they produce pure sine wave power. If you intend to use your system completely off grid (No Grid Tie Ever), you may want to have us switch to the VFX3524 inverters for your FLEXpower™ ONE system at no additional charge to you because the VFX3524 will interface with a wider variety of generators. Should you choose to make that change, just notify us in the comment box at the time of checkout or when you are contacted by the technical consultant assigned to your purchase.
Mounting and Battery Options
Roof or ground racks and batteries are included in the base price of the kit however there are other options available for mounting such as top of pole or the more economical rail systems to meet individual's specific property requirements. There are options available also for sealed maintenance free batteries.
Other Materials Needed
Some additional items sourced from your local hardware store that you may need to purchase are: Conduit, appropriately sized electrical wire from the combiner box to the location of the power panel, some fasteners, sealant, grounding rod and wire to complete the final connection to your main panel or sub panel. |
